Profile details: username, bio, avatar, civic interests, occupation and hobbies.
Content you create: posts, comments, photos, videos, polls, messages and feedback.

Information collected automatically

Device data: model, operating system, app version, IP address and network information.
Usage data: features used, session duration and interaction events.
Location data: approximate location from your IP address, and precise GPS location only if you opt in to Nearby+.
Crash and diagnostic logs.

3. How We Use Your Information

To operate, maintain and improve the VocalBox platform.
To verify your identity and secure your account (including two-factor authentication).
To power community features such as the wall, polls, connections and nearby citizens.
To process credit purchases, transfers and rewards.
To send you notifications and service updates.
To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents.
To comply with legal obligations.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information:

With other users, as part of the content you choose to post publicly.
With service providers who assist with hosting, email, payments and notifications.
With payment providers (e.g. Paystack, Flutterwave, Interswitch) when you buy credits.
With AI providers when you use features like Parrot Chat, content classification or transcription.
Where required by law, regulation or a lawful request.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Financial and transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by law. Security logs are retained for up to 12 months. You may request deletion at any time via the account deletion page.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls and regular security reviews. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

VocalBox is not intended for individuals under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided personal data, we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email. Continued use of VocalBox after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
